The Best Way to Mount an HDTV to the Wall

Before starting the task, ask yourself, is self-installation of your HDTV something you are sure you want to do. If you are certain that you are competent of the task then by all means try to do so. Any amateur can mount a plasma TV on the wall by purchasing, installing and attaching flat screen on a wall mount kit that can be purchased from a hardware store.

First you need to consider the measurements of the mounts’ height; this is to ensure that you’ll have the best comfortable viewing experience. Second is to find the right place to mount your flat screen, to guarantee that there are no pipes and electrical conduit you could accidentally drill unto. Important reminder, when setting up your TV panel, it is important not to lay your TV glass face down as it may leave permanent damage on your screen.

A safety tip before mounting your plasma TV, read and understand the kit instructions and make sure that the wall mount is well-suited with your Plasma TV weight, as you will be attaching your flat screen to studs (15-20″ apart) on the wall.

Instructions:

It’s a must that you have basic knowledge on how to use power drill and drill bits.

Locate the stud where you will attach the mount in your wall. To locate a stud you need to knock on your wall and find the spot that produces a sound of solid wood. If you’re unsure of how this works you can purchase a stud finder.

It is best to have 3 studs, to support the hardware’s weight, drilled unto the wall.

Once you are done installing these studs on the wall, had successfully installed TV portion brackets on your plasma TV’s back (you may use two brackets or four), and the other on the wall, all you need to do is hang or slide the flat screen TV on the mounting bracket against the wall. In doing so, you will need to call a friend or two, if not a spouse, to help you pick up the flat screen onto the mount. After that you’re set to hook-up the cables, DVD and other devices.

Hiding the cables for an organized look is fairly easy; you can hire a professional electrician, or paint your cables in accord with your wall coat.  Finally, your HDTV is wall mounted and you can start bragging how you single handedly installed everything against your wall.
